A.K.I. Pennsylvania is a small, dedicated dojo established in 1996 by Lia Suzuki Sensei, 5th Dan, upon her return from nearly 10 years of training in Japan. We remain under her direction. Monthly dues go to pay the rent and finance dojo events.

A.K.I. Pennsylvania strives to emulate the atmosphere, traditions, and spirit of our parent dojo in Japan. We maintain an active connection with the other AKI dojo in North America, and with Takeda Shihan's dojo in Japan.

Lia Suzuki Sensei visits A.K.I. Pennsylvania regularly to teach and conduct extensive training sessions, testing, and special events. Information about the A.K.I. lineage and Aikido in general can be found on the AKI USA page.

A.K.I. Pennsylvania's instructor is Stephen Trinkle Sensei. Stephen Sensei's first experience of aikido was in Japan with Takeda Shihan in 1988-89. He returned to aikido training in earnest when Lia Suzuki Sensei began the Pennsylvania dojo in 1996.
